How many homes will the solar project power?
The project is expected to generate approximately 201,480 megawatt-hours each year, which is enough to power 21,500 homes
How long has the Gopher Storage Project in Anoka County been in operation?
Project began operations 12/1/2018. It is significantly smaller than the proposed Benton storage project, with a total capacity of 12 megawatt-hours of storage.
Are landowners liable to pay for Fire Department expenses in the event of an emergency?
No, Benton Solar, LLC will cover those costs. If the landowner is billed for expenses that occur because of the Project, we will reimburse them according to their lease.
How close is the project to the Great River Energy Northland Reliability Project?
The Northland Reliability project will be approximately 0.1 miles east of our proposed transmission line, and 0.2 miles to the closest solar array. Here is a screenshot showing our project in relation to their new 345 kV line in red.
